Deprecating IP Whitelisting for SMTP services

Due to change in our platform, IP Whitelisting in messaging services will be deprecated:

Currently Ingenious sends e-mails through the stable/static IP 35.210.27.242. Customers can put this IP address into their IP whitelists. On the effective day of this deprecation, the IP addresses from which we call your mailing service will by dynamic and change. Effectively you cannot use IP whitelist anymore and should rely on other existing and supported authentication mechanisms.

What should you do:

  • If you use IP whitelisting for messaging, please remove the IP 35.210.27.242 and disable IP whitelisting.

  • In order to segregate and identify the messaging traffic sent from Ingenious, please create a dedicated authentication (username, password, SSL, TLS, …) for your messaging service.

  • You can read more about messaging services in this article: How to create a new email service

Platform

Deprecating Non-Secure HTTP

We announce our intent to phase out non-secure HTTP in Tracking-Links, including View-, Click-, and Conversion-Links.

There’s broad agreement that HTTPS is the way forward for the web. There have been statements from IETF, IAB (even the other IAB), and W3C calling for universal use of encryption by Internet applications, which in the case of the web means HTTPS.

Ingenuous is committing to focus new development efforts on the secure web, and start removing capabilities from the non-secure web. On March 31, 2023, we will not support any non-secure HTTP links.

What should you do:

  • You should check if your creatives have target URLs with HTTP-protocol

  • You should check if your partners have used a HTTP-link for creatives on their website.
