Advertiser properties

Overview

The page contains the following sections:

  • the main details,

  • the area in which you can upload the advertiser’s terms and conditions and the logo,

  • some technical properties,

  • and finally some additional settings.

All of these sections will be discussed in more detail below.

Main details

In the main details section, you need to define the following settings:

  • First, you will have to give your advertiser a name. Please note that you can differ between a native name and an English name if you want.

  • The entity you select for your advertiser is the legal body responsible for the payment of the partners generating business for the advertiser. For further details, please read the article on working with entities.

  • As soon as you have filled out your advertiser’s name, the alias will be created. The alias is the name used to identify your advertiser in tracking applications. It cannot be changed.

  • The language you select for your advertiser defines in what language the advertiser description and the terms and conditions will be displayed. For example: if you create a French description for your advertiser and select French as the language of your advertiser, the French description and the terms and conditions will be displayed to all partners using their interface in French – for other partners, the English description will be used.

  • The country of promotion defines the markets in which your advertiser is active.

  • Under ‘website’, you need to enter the homepage of your advertiser.

  • Under ‘key account’, you select the user who is responsible for the management of the advertiser.

  • Under ‘category’, you can define the category of the advertiser. Please read the article on categorization for more details.

  • Finally, you can add one or more labels to your advertiser. Particularly if you run a lot of advertisers on your platform, labels will make it easier for your partners to find the advertisers that are best suited to their ad spaces.

In the next section below the horizontal bar, you can upload the terms and conditions (T&C) of your advertiser and the advertiser’s logo. Please note the following:

  • You can upload terms and conditions in both the native language of your advertiser and English. What terms and conditions will be shown to the partners, is defined by the language you selected earlier. Please upload your terms and conditions in PDF format. The URL of your terms and conditions will be generated automatically.

  • The image file you use as a logo needs to have a size of 120×40 px. Accepted formats are JPG, GIF, SVG, and PNG. The URL of the logo will be generated automatically.

Technical settings

In the section below the second vertical bar, you will find the following technical settings:

  • The list of domains is used to allow the on-page tag to distinguish between internal and external clicks. The relevant domain will be filled out automatically when you enter your advertiser’s website. If you want to enter more domains, make sure you separate them by a comma.

  • The advertiser ID is used to identify the advertiser in tracking applications and will be generated automatically when you create the advertiser. Please note it cannot be edited.

  • If you have created an individual tracking domain for your advertiser to ensure first-party tracking, select the tracking domain here. If not, use your generic tracking domain. Please select the tracking domain carefully. Furthermore, make sure you provide a prefix. You can choose the prefix freely, but please avoid terms related to tracking or marketing such as ‘tracking’, ‘ads’ or ‘advertising’ to avoid ad blocker issues. Recommendable are terms such as ‘publisher’, ‘channel’ or ‘partners’.

Starting an advertiser

If you are about to start an advertiser, we recommend that you put the status of the advertiser on active and the visibility on testing. By doing so, you make sure you can test your tracking and rating settings, but partners will not be able to apply for the advertiser yet.

Pausing an advertiser

If you want to pause an advertiser, we recommend that you put the status of the advertiser on deactivated and the visibility on normal. By doing so, you make sure partners can still see their past performance, but they won’t be able to apply for the advertiser anymore. The tracking tags will continue to work, but traffic and conversions won’t be rated any more. Before you change the status, please make sure you follow the instructions in this article.

Terminating an advertiser

If you want to terminate an advertiser, we recommend that you put the status of the advertiser on deleted and the visibility on normal. By doing so, you make sure partners can still see their past performance, but they won’t be able to apply for the advertiser anymore. The tracking tags will be disabled and traffic and conversions won’t be rated any more. Before you change the status, please make sure you follow the instructions in this article.

Conclusion

If you are done editing the properties of your advertiser, click on the ‘save’ button in the right lower corner of the page when you are done. If you are creating a new advertiser, click on the button ‘save and proceed’ in the right lower corner of the page when you are done. You will then be taken to the page on which you define the billing mode of your advertiser.
