Working with ad media kits

Advantages of ad media kits

An ad media kit is more than a mere category for your ad media items. It does not only help you to structure your ad media, but your campaigns as well. For every ad media kit, you define a target URL. For every ad media item you upload in the kit, this target URL will be used. Changes to the target URL will be adopted for all the ad media items in the kit as well. Of course, it is also possible to make an exception and use a different URL for an item as well.

Furthermore, every ad media kit contains a filter. This filter allows you to restrict the usage of an ad media kit to individual ad spaces. Using such a filter can be very helpful when you are integrating multiple marketing channels on the platform.

Getting started

If you haven’t already done so, login to your admin UI, click on ‘advertiser’ in the main navigation menu and proceed to click on ‘manage advertisers’. Select the advertiser you want to upload the ad media item for and click on the  icon.

The page you see now is the main ad media page: from here, you will be able do manage everything related to ad media. The page contains two columns. The column on the right offers you an overview of all the existing ad media kits. When you click on an ad media kit, the items belonging to this kit will be displayed in the column on the right.

Creating a new ad media kit

Make sure you are on the main ad media page. Below the left column, you will find a link called ‘add new ad media kit’. As soon as you’ve clicked this, a panel will be loaded the right column.

This panel allows you to define the properties of your ad media kit. Make sure you go through the following steps:

  • Enter a significant target URL. This can be the main page of your advertiser’s website, but it can also be a category page or a product blog.

  • After you have entered the target URL, hit the ‘process’ button. The platform will then ping the URL and fill out the the title and description for your new ad media kit automatically. If you want to fill out the title and the description manually, select ‘manual’ in the drop down menu. Please note that adding a description is optional.

  • If you want to relate the ad media kit you are creating to a particular tracking category, select this category in drop down menu. This comes in handy when you want to map the success of the items in the kit to a specific tracking category. If you don’t want to relate the items to a specific category, use the default category.

  • The filter option allows you to limit the access to the ad media kit. You can give exclusive access to the kit by selecting specific ad spaces.

  • If you want your new ad media kit to be available for your partners immediately, make sure the status is set to ‘active’. If you want it to become available later – for example when you are preparing a campaign – select ‘inactive’.

When you are ready, hit the ‘save’ button in the right lower corner.

Editing an ad media kit

Make sure you are on the main ad media page and go the column on the left, with the overview of all ad media kits. Go to the relevant ad media kit andclick on the iconnext to the name. In right column, the overview of the ad media kit properties will be displayed. Here, you can edit all the properties mentioned above.

If you change the target URL of an ad media kit, you have to define to what ad media items the new URL should apply. You have the following options:

  • Applying the new target URL only to new ad media items, i.e. items uploaded after the change.

  • Applying the new target URL only to ad media that had the target URL you were replacing. This means the new target URL will not be applied to ad media items that had a different target URL.

  • Applying the new target URL to all ad media items in the ad media kit, i.e. the existing ones and the new ones.

If you are done editing, don’t forget to hit the ‘save’ button. Please note you cannot edit the miscellaneous and rich media ad media kits. These kits are default ad media kits.

Deleting an ad media kit

Once again, make sure you are on the main ad media page. Go the column on the left, with the overview of all ad media kits. Go to the relevant ad media kit andclick on the iconnext to the name. In right column, the overview of the ad media kit properties will be displayed. To delete the kit, go to the status setting and select ‘deleted’ in the dropdown menu. Please note it is necessary to save the status change by hitting the ‘save’ button.

The miscellaneous and rich media ad media kits cannot be deleted, because they are default ad media kits.
