How do I manage conversions?
Getting started
If you haven’t already done so, login to the you admin UI . Click on ‘finance’ in the main menu and proceed to click on ‘conversions’. On the page you seen now, you can find all data related to your conversions and process validation.
The page consists of two main panels: a filter panel and an overview of individual conversions. The filter panel will remind you of the filter panels you find under the partner and the reporting tab. The overview contains the output of your filter settings.
Finding conversions
If you do not change anything in the filter panel and click on the button ‘search’ at the bottom of the filter panel, you will see all conversions of all active partners in your platform made today. The most recent conversion is displayed on top. If you want to know how to change this timeframe or find a specific conversion, please read the article on how to find specific conversions.
Conversion data
Once you click on the search button, you will see an overview of conversions appearing below the filter panel. Every entry in the overview represents one conversion. Above the overview, you will find a legend explaining the meaning of the different texts and figures you see in the entries.
Let’s have a closer look at a specific entry:
We will go through all the different figures, icons and texts one by one, working from left to right. The main columns contain the following information of each conversion:
the time and date on which the conversion was created
the conversion ID
the tracking category name and the ID of it
the conversion target name and the ID of it
the advertiser’s name and the ID of it (MID)
the partner’s company name or the partner’s name and his ID (UID)
the amount of the conversion
the fee of the conversion
the commission value of the conversion
the status of the conversion
the details (additional data) of the conversion. Here you can find different icons which are explained below:
The icon allows you to edit the conversion: you can change the order value (amount) and the commission, by changing the percentage or the fixed amount of the conversion. In the notification field you have the opportunity to add a notification as e.g. explanation for the edit made in order value or commission. In case basket tracking has been implemented, you will see an icon instead. Via this icon, you can see the content of the basket related to the conversion. To find out how to manage baskets, please read this article.
If you click on the icon, a panel will appear displaying the history of the conversion. This history will always involve the moment on which the conversion was tracked. The moment on which the conversion was validated will also be recorded here, including the name of the user who processed the validation. If the conversion has been added to a confirmed payment entry, you will also find the account number of the payment entry recorded here. Especially useful for all advertisers with the billing mode ‘postpayment standard’, there is also an entry for when this conversion has been paid out to the partner, including the name of the user who processed the entry. Further, the history view gives information on how the validation or changes were made (e.g. conversion file update plus user who uploaded the file).
The icon allows you to see the additional conversion data. These details will open up in a panel which appears below the conversion data as soon as you click on the icon. Please note this data will only be available when the corresponding tracking parameters have been attached to the conversion tag. The additional conversion data includes:The total order value, i.e. the order value of the conversion including shipping costs and VAT.Whether the customer who placed the order to which the conversion relates was new or recurring. The discounted order value, i.e. the order value of the conversion minus the discount given for that order. The payment method (credit card, PayPal, bank collection, etc.) the customer chose when placing the order. The device of the conversion which could be Desktop, Mobile or Tablet. The referrer information including the referrer path and the referrer search part i.e. the website on which the click or view leading to the conversion.Additional customer related data, such as the order number of a previously canceled order or recommendations for other products can be transmitted here. This is a free text field which can be filled freely.Custom user values added to the conversion. What these values represent depends on the implementation of the conversion tag.
The icon allows you to see details of the touchpoint or touchpoints of the conversion. In case there is more than one touchpoint which contributed to the conversion (meaning for application of Multi Touch Attribution), the following icon will be displayed: . For every touchpoint, one line is shown containing the following information:
The tracking date and time of the touchpoint.
The touchpoint type (Click or View) and the device of it (Desktop, Mobile or Tablet).
The partner’s name and the ID (UID)
The ad space’s name and ID (PID)
The ad media’s name and ID
The share of the touchpoint in relation to the conversion This share can be between 100.00% or less than 1% and is the basis of the commission. Below the share you can also see the proportionate amount.
The fee model’s name that is set for the ad space that belongs to the touchpoint.
The commission model’s name that is set for the ad space that belongs to the touchpoint.
The proportionate fee for every touchpoint based on it’s share.
The proportionate commission for every touchpoint based on it’s share.
In the third line you can find the information if the conversion is visible for this partner or not according to the relevant commission model settings.
If used by the ad space, you can find the values of the smc parameters in the third line of touchpoint information too.
If a voucher was used for the conversion, you will also see a icon as well. If you click on it, you will find the voucher status, the voucher titel, the voucher code and the discount value applied. In case a voucher rule applied where the attribution of the touchpoint was changed to a different partner/ad space, the original partner’s name and UID are also shown. Please note that these values refer to the voucher that was registered in the system; unregistered vouchers might have been applied as well.
Validation
Validating an individual conversion
Per default all tracked conversions have the status open. In this case you can see the icon selected in the conversion status column. If you want to approve or cancel the conversion, just click on the status icon and choose “accept” or “cancel” in the list. When you select a new status, you will have to confirm your action by clicking the ‘change status’ button appearing after you changed the status. After it the relevant status icon will be shown in the status column:
The icon appears for the approved conversion
The icon appears for the canceled conversion
Validating conversions in bulk manually
Of course, you can approve or cancel more than one conversion in one go. To do so, you’ll need to select all the conversions you want to edit by ticking the little box on the outmost left of the conversion panel, or scroll down and tick the ‘select all‘ option in the left lower corner at the bottom of the page.
If you do so, you will find that the status section of all the conversions you selected is grayed out. To change the status of all selected conversions, you will need the status section at the bottom of the page. If you have changed the status of your selected conversions, click on the button ‘apply bulk edit’ and confirm your actions in the system window that appears.
If you want to validate conversions automatically, please read this article.
Exporting conversions
To export your conversions, just scroll down the overview of conversions. At the bottom of the page, next to the apply bulk edit button, you will see a panel which allows you to export data. You can choose between two export files (for a detailed overview on which information is included in the respective files please click on the linked articles):
If you additionally want sub IDs and other additional conversion data to be included in the conversion file, please select file type “Additional”.
If you are working with basket tracking, you will also have the possibility to export baskets here. The icons you find behind the name of the exports represent the different formats in which you can export your conversions: XLS and CSV.
Please note that the file you download here will only contain the conversions or the touchpoints and baskets related to the conversions that meet the filter criteria you have defined. There are no limitations to the amount of data you export in one go, but you should not use a time range larger than one year.
Please note that the conversion file you can export here cannot be used for automated validation. It is only useful when you need to export all data related to conversions. To find out how you can export a conversion file optimized for bulk validation, please read this article.
